ALIA SA Quiz Nigh

ALIA SA held its’ annual Quiz Night on Friday 23rd May to round off 2008 Library & Information Week celebrations.
Academic, Public, School and Special Library & Information sectors were represented and we even had a table of representatives from the Payneham Bowling Club (which was this year’s quiz night venue). It was a fantastic turnout, with a total of 128 participants.

The theme was Fictional Characters. Teams either dressed as fictional characters or decorated their tables in a fictional theme (or both!), and included the Mad-Hatters Tea Party, Harry Potter, Teddy Bears picnic and pirates and wenches. The prize for best dressed/table went to the Teddy Bears picnic. This table went all out! So many teddy bears at the table there was hardly room for the quiz participants, books about bears, gummi bears, tiny teddies, and not one but two homemade teddy bear cakes!

A good time was had by all. Competition was fierce, despite the questions seeming to be disproportionately weighted in favour of those with knowledge of breweries!

The evening’s major sponsor was CIVICA http://civica.co.uk/AUS/ . Ruza Obradovic attended as the CIVICA representative and performed the honour of prize distributions.
Prizes were generously contributed by CIVICA, Dymocks Rundle Mall store, Charminar Indian restaurant, Hilton Public Library, Tea Tree Gully Public Library.
The role of quiz master was fabulously carried out by Craig Sinclair.
Our thanks go to both Craig and all our sponsors for contributing to another successful evening.
